Leaving a bequest to Telethon

Creating a legacy is more than simply leaving money, it is also
about leaving something of yourself behind for the next generation.
It's about becoming a Telethon Living Legend.

Each one of us has the opportunity to make our mark by leaving a legacy that will have an impact on the lives of children today and for generations to come.  You may never meet the children whose lives you have changed but their families will never forget your generosity.

A bequest made in your will is a practical way to provide meaningful financial support that may not be possible during your lifetime.  When you make your Will, your family comes first, however a gift to Telethon is also a gift to your family – a gift to ensure that future generations receive the best care and support right here in Western Australia.

All gifts – however great or small – are greatly valued.

Your gift will help discover cures and better treatments for many of the devastating diseases faced by our children.

Your gift will help care for children in hospital and support a wide range of programs that improve the health and wellbeing of WA’s children.

Through your gift to Telethon, you will help to transform the lives of our most precious and vulnerable Western Australians and give the gift of hope to their families.

After you have talked with you family about your Will, please contact us as we would be pleased to give you any information you require.

Your Will is an important document that must be properly prepared and executed. We recommend using a solicitor to ensure your Will is legal and valid.

Please download the information checklist which may assist you as you prepare your Will.  It includes some important questions to ask your solicitor and the correct wording to include a gift to Telethon.

Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can help Telethon support the children of Western Australia.   Depending on your circumstances you can remember Telethon in your Will in a number of ways:

  1. Residual bequest – is where the remainder or what is left of your Estate after you have provided for your family, friends and any debts is left to Telethon.

  2. Percentage or fractional bequest – you may leave a percentage or fraction of your Estate to Telethon.

  3. Specific gift – you may choose to leave a specific gift, which can be money, property, or stocks and shares, to Telethon under the terms of your Will.

  4. Whole Estate bequest – A bequest that is made of the entirety of an Estate is usually left by people without beneficiaries or by someone who wants to make a very significant bequest.
