At the end of Telethon 2011 our Bankwest Tallyboard read $ 13,473,159. This money was then distributed amongst the following list of beneficiaries. On behalf of all these organisations, thank you WA for saying, I can!
This grant funded the purchase of a CT scanner, bone densitometer, a new MRI for King Edward Hospital, outdoor recreation areas for CAMHS facilities at Bentley as well as several medical fellowships and scholarships. Various medical equipment items were also purchased through the 92.9 Kids Appeal with Telethon.
This funding enabled the Institute to conduct research into eight major areas: Aboriginal child health; asthma, allergy and respiratory disease; childhood cancers; healthy development; infectious disease; social and emotional wellbeing; the early years and understanding disability.
We are continuing our ongoing commitment to the Centre, including funding for a Parent and Community Centre.
Supporting a program to improve the participation of High Care Kids with severe and multiple disabilities in community life through inclusive practices.
Continuing to support the provision of an education and awareness campaign of Meningococcal disease that is directed at young children, their parents and their educators throughout the state.
To fund the delivery of the Young Hearts program in the Rockingham and Mandurah areas, providing support to children who are directly exposed to family and domestic violence.
To fund the building of a Bones and Joints e-learning website creating a virtual and interactive information centre to educate and inform about musculoskeletal disorders in children.
To fund the development of health care provider resources and a mass media campaign to increase knowledge and awareness of asthma and change attitudes and behaviour amongst children and their parents in relation to asthma management.
Supporting a respite weekend for families with a child diagnosed with autism.
To fund a Young Carers camp giving young carers, aged 10-12, a break from their caring role and an opportunity to make friends and support one another.
To fund a range of equipment, clinics and community access and opportunities program to support children with Cerebral Palsy.
To fund several projects such as Regional Outreach, Country Travel Assistance, Regional Sibling Support, Regional Home Support, Adolescent Independent Travel Allowance and CF Kids & Siblings Newsletter.
To fund the Dreamcatcher program which aims to improve quality of life for children living with disabilities by designing, engineering and modifying equipment that helps them achieve their dreams.
To fund the continuation and expansion of the School Breakfast Program which supplies vitally important nutritionally valuable food items for disadvantaged children across WA.
To fund the renovation of a bathroom at the Riverton Children’s Respite House making it accessible to children in wheelchairs.
To support a sports-based community program for children with disabilities in Karratha and surrounding areas.
To support a varied program of respite and family support activities for families of children with special needs including Mothers Respite Weekends, Couples in a Caring Role Weekends, Annual Sharing Time Family Day, Dads Matters, Grandparent Carer Support and Reach Out to Regions program.
Funding dedicated video conferencing and ancillary equipment for the Kununurra District Hospital theatre.
To fund research into causes of the world-wide epidemic of Myopia or short-sightedness and expand DNA data collection of Raine Study participants.
This grant will fund Gold Coast wishes for three WA children. The mission of Make a Wish is to bring happiness to children with life-threatening medical conditions by granting their most cherished wishes.
To fund the Molecular Studies in Spinal Muscular Atrophy project exploring molecular generic therapies as a possible treatment for spinal muscular atrophy.
To support Project KIDS which carries out research to unravel neurocognitive risk factors and compromised development patterns of children with chronic health conditions.
To fund the Support a Family program which cares for families who have a child with cancer and are in crisis or experiencing chronic stress.
To support the building of the Geokids Cottage in Busselton – a family respite facility where families can be together in times of grief or need or after surgeries.
Funding will support an early childhood development program and intensive parenting support service in Armadale engaging with maginalised families.
To support Club Ado at PMH – a recreational facility and ward program entirely dedicated to providing entertainment, education and distraction from the boredom of hospital life to adolescent patients.
This grant supports disadvantaged and seriously ill children who need inspiration and distraction by providing musical instruments and tuition through the for the Music for Life program.
To support opportunities for children with physical or intellectual disabilities to reach their potential in the pool, improve social interaction and encourage integration into mainstream activities and competitions.
To fund the provision of seven breastpumps and an infant oxygen therapy unit at Swan Kalamunda Health Service Special Care Nursery and Paediatric Unit.
To purchase aids and equipment for 22 children with disabilities to allow them to make the most of their unique abilities and participate in activities with their families, peers and communities.
To fund an annual two-week camp at Busselton for children who have lost a parent and are wards of Legacy.
Funding the Regional Outback Experience project which will give children with disabilities living in regional areas across WA the opportunity to participate in sport and recreation activities.
To purchase a truck for the liveALIVE program which provides quality and relevant youth activities and services to those who are otherwise unable to access them.
To purchase two specially modified vehicles for regional families of children with a disability required to visit Perth for medical treatment.
To fund research on the following studies: mothers anxiety; preterm birth prevention and fighting fetal infection; diaphragmatic hernia and preterm birth family genetics.
To fund Community Based Counseling Services in outer northern suburbs as well as engage an additional youth counselor to operate from Bunbury.
To continue to fund the Nest project which is an innovative youth accommodation and support program for young parents and their children who are at risk of homelessness.
