Countdown begins for Telethon 2025: WA’s biggest weekend of giving

With just 100 days to go until Telethon 2025, excitement is building across Western Australia for what promises to be another unforgettable weekend of generosity, entertainment, and community spirit. A true celebration of what it means to be Incredible Together.

Mark your calendars for Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2025, when RAC Arena and the Perth CBD come alive with the colour and energy of Telethon’s 58th annual event.

The massive 26-hours will be broadcast live across Channel 7 and 7plus, showcasing the best of WA’s giving spirit, and featuring key performances, generous donations and all-around fun!

Performing in 2025

Telethon weekend is always packed with a star-studded lineup, and this year is no exception.

Returning crowd favourite Emma Memma has confirmed she’ll be back for her third Telethon Weekend, delighting fans of all ages. Earlier this week, Emma met with the 2024 Little Telethon Stars backstage at her Perth show and shared her excitement about returning.

“Telethon holds a very special place in my heart, it’s such an incredible and important event, and I can’t wait to be back in Perth, singing, dancing and signing with everyone again!” Emma Memma said.

Also joining the Telethon 2025 lineup is Aussie rock favourite Shannon Noll. Known for anthems like What about me, Drive, and Lift, Noll will bring a dose of classic Aussie spirit to the weekend’s entertainment.

My Kitchen Rules judge Manu Feildel will be joining the lineup, as will AFL legend Shane Crawford, willing to return after being pied in the face by the masked pie-flinger at his inaugural Telethon Weekend last year. They’ll be joined by The Front Bar’s Mick Molloy, bringing his trademark humour and footy banter to the weekend’s festivities.

There will also be a host of beloved Telethon regulars, including stars from Home and Away, Better Homes & Gardens and The Chase as well as the 7NEWS Perth team and other media personalities and sporting heroes.

But none as popular as Telethon’s very own Fat Cat who graced the stage with a performance of Gangnam Style last year, what will his signature moves be in 2025?!

More than entertainment: real stories, real impact

While Telethon is packed with fun and entertainment, its true impact lies in the support it provides to WA children in need made possible by the generosity of the community.

One example is beneficiary Football Futures, an inclusive program helping over 8,000 children with disabilities across WA access local football, build confidence, and feel a sense of belonging.

“Telethon’s support of programs like this means the world to families like ours – it gives our kids a chance to shine and feel truly valued.”

Telethon has also helped establish WA’s first Para Football state team for female players with cerebral palsy and neuromuscular conditions, giving them the chance to play competitively and represent their state and nation.

From breaking down barriers to building brighter futures, community donations to Telethon are helping to change lives where it matters most.

WA community coming together for the cause

Telethon’s success is built on the generosity and passion of the community. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.

The 2024 Telethon Weekend saw the highest level of community involvement to date, with over $1 million raised through community fundraisers and more than 43,500 individual donations made through the Call Centre and online over the 26-hour broadcast.

With both the Opening and Closings Shows selling out, and more than 100 Telethon beneficiaries activating at the Telethon Family Festival, the 2024 weekend was the true embodiment of its theme, Incredible Together.

And the message continues to grow for 2025, showing that we’re Incredible Together once more, with more than 60 schools from across the state already signed up to take part in the inaugural Premier’s Telethon Challenge, showing the strength of fundraising efforts from all ages.

Alcoa Cycle Challenge

One school who is taking on another challenge for Telethon this year is Scotch College, with students riding alongside youth mental health advocate and basketball legend Greg Hire in Telethon’s newest activation – the Alcoa Cycle Challenge.

Year 12 student and House captain Rory Thorpe said they were expecting all 70 boys in Stuart House to get behind the challenge.

“The work that Telethon is doing with kids is so vital so getting behind that is such a great thing for any community,” he said.

Refreshed and ready to ride, the Alcoa Cycle Challenge will take place on Sunday 19 October at the Telethon Family Festival.

This 8-hour, non-stop cycling event is more than just a test of stamina – it’s a powerful display of endurance, teamwork, and heart, all in support of sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children across WA.

“This is a continuation of Matty Fuller’s physical challenges and what a fantastic legacy he’s left Telethon and I’m just trying to continue that,” Hire said.

Joining Greg will be radio personalities such as Triple M’s Xavier Ellis, local sporting personalities, community partners, as well as schools and everyday West Aussies, ready to ride for a reason – turning pedal power into life-changing impact.

“I think the greatest gift you can do is helping impact lives and I can do that through this, it’s a no brainer,” Hire said.

“Alcoa are thrilled to partner with Telethon to promote physical wellbeing and shine a light on the vital link between movement and mental health. We’re calling on the community to rally their friends, family and colleagues and ride with us to make a real difference for WA kids,” President Alcoa Australia Elsabe Muller said.

Looking ahead to Telethon 2025

Telethon raised a record $83.3 million at last year’s event thanks to the generosity of the West Australian community.

As we edge closer to this year’s Telethon Weekend, the message is clear: WA’s generosity knows no bounds.

Funds raised will ensure more than 161 charity beneficiaries can continue to provide better access and quality of care as WA comes together to help build a better and brighter future for our children.

With the help of the community, partners, and an unforgettable cast of stars, Telethon 2025 is shaping up to be the biggest and boldest yet.

Stay tuned for more exciting announcements over the next 100 days as we countdown to the 58th annual Telethon Weekend.
