Born prematurely at just 23 weeks and weighing a mere 650g, Yusif’s journey hasn’t been easy.
In the NICU, his parents received devastating news. After three brain surgeries, Yusif would probably remain in a vegetative state.
But Yusif has defied the odds. Despite living with cerebral palsy and a severe intellectual disability, Yusif is a cheerful, strong-willed eight-year-old boy whose infectious smile brightens the lives of those around him. 
Yusif is supported by several Telethon beneficiaries who provide ongoing therapy and assistance with the simplest aspects of life. They support him and his family every step of the journey.
“Yusif’s participation in such enabling programs provides him with the best possible care and opportunities for development,” Yusif’s Dad, Alishum said. “It’s a part of our ongoing efforts to enhance his quality of life and ensure he can actively participate in various aspects of daily living.”
