Application Tips

  1. Song choice is everything. Our selectors encourage entertaining, up beat songs that people at home will enjoy listening to.
  2. Younger people should be reminded that song selection should be age appropriate, and not in the adult genre.
  3. We recommend vocalists know the song they intend to perform. (ie don’t read lyrics in your application)
  4. Please ensure that you are fully prepared to perform/record on your phone one of the additional songs you list on your application. Our selection team may request it. If you’re not sure that you will be ready, please DO NOT list alternate songs.
  5. Dance groups should to be entertaining, energetic and fully costumed. Preference is given to applications that are not a competition troupe performance – ie avoid small group performances within your item, where others in the group watch/clap.  If you’re a solo dancer we encourage you to team up with other dancers and submit one group performance/application.
  6. All performances (ie video) should be submitted as you would perform live at Telethon.
  7. Music videos are not accepted. We need to see your performance as it would be if it was on stage at Telethon. Please video your group performing “live”, special editing effects etc. are not required. The “live” performance can be in your lounge, garage, a studio, backyard or even a recent performance
  8. The quality of your video camera work etc, is not considered when selecting a performance for shortlist.
  9. If you are successful and chosen to be part of the show our production team may request to attend one of your rehearsals.
  10. The production team reserves the right to add your piece or part of your piece to produce a bigger item for Telethon.
  11. Please do your best when completing your application, answer all questions.
  12. The production team reserves the right to change the close off date for applications.
  13. Have fun, enjoy preparing your video and application, and thank you for your support of Telethon.
